Counting My Blessings

Counting My Blessings

I was involved in a serious car accident in 2005. I lost my 20 plus year career in the medical field. I cried, felt hopeless, and afraid. I received disability from my job, until it ran out. Not to mention,  unemployment turned me down because I was still under the care of doctors. I had also filed for Social Security (Disability) and was turned down for that, as well.

I was desperate, and badly in need help. I went to the person who generally came to my rescue. A person who has never, ever, let me down. A person who always answered my cries for help when I was in need. Yes, I'm talking about Jehovah God. I gathered up all my problems and handed them over to my Heavenly Father.

Afterwards, I experienced a sense of calm, followed by successions ofchange. Yes. Not only was I feeling my blessings,I was receiving them.

Seven months after being turned down for Social Security, I was granted the service. It was right on time. My bills got caught up,I even had a little extra, and I bought a used car. Looking back, after all the dust cleared, it might sound ironic but I do believe the accident was a blessing, as well.  It gave me the freedom to discover things about myself and to act upon them.

I started writing my now published book, What's Past Is Not Forgotten, in April of 2006. By November of 2006 I started my home based business. I Put my book on the back burner to build up my business.

After about a year and a half, I felt secure with the progress I made in my business and I returned to my writing. Not knowing the first steps to take when I was finished with writing my book,I continued to write. My blessings kept coming.

I put up a book page on myspace and the reception was overwhelming. I felt like the myspace members were waiting for me. I was befriended by Ivanna Howles, a new author, who took me under her wings. The best thing Ivanna did for me was in introducing me to our publisher Miriam "Mimi" Jacobs.

Not only is Miriam my Publisher, coach, mentor, business partner, she is a  true friend. Miriam is a warm-spirited, out-going, honest, kind, caring, giving, and understanding child of God.  God put her in my life, for however long, only He knows. Miriam has taught me so much since we met. I love and respect her for all that she's done for me. I even had the opportunity of meeting Miriam in person. My best friend, Lorraine, and I took a day drip, April the  13th, on Easter Monday to New York.

Not only did I meet Miriam but one of her friends and staff members, Franky. It was a fun and profitable day. We ate, talked, sold books, and laughed a lot. It was a day trip I'll soon not forget.

I found out Miriam and I have a lot in common. Our family history, our children, and our life matters. It's good because we communicate so well when we are not talking business. I like that I can tell her how my next story is going to end and what my next book is going to be about. I love how she encourages me, to do more, not to limit myself, to give it my all.

I want to let you all know, yes, I count my blessings and will continue to do so. I thank my Heavenly Father, without him none of this would have happened.

In February of 2009 my book, "What's Past Is Not Forgotten" was published by Chaklet Coffee Books, an independent publishing company owned and operated by Miriam "Mimi" Jacobs. It was as if I had given birth, all over again, in book form. I was so proud and grateful to Miriam for making a life long dream, of mine materialize. I have also contributed to an Anthology, compiled by Miriam. Eros 369 is the title of the Anthology, a book for adults, with a delicious ensemble of succulent and scintillating short stories, blended with sexually explicit poetry, from a host of new Authors. My two stories are, "The Basement" and "Out To Lunch". Two hot, succulent, sexy, adult, short stories sure to  please the senses. My poem "My Gentle Lover" is just that.

I also contributed to a series, Volume IV "How to Jump From A Ferris Wheel and Land On Your Feet" compiled by Miriam. It's a series of chapters about women who faced adversities, how they dealt with them, and how they achieved victories over them. My chapter's entitled, "I Love You, Jay Jay". It's about hearing my mom say, 'I love you'for the first time.... On her death bed. A sad, but uplifting story. Read how the three most powerful words, I love you, changed the course of my life forever.

I'm now working on my second book, "You Might Get Lucky". It's a dark story of how an orphaned boy is violated in his youth, becomes a successful adult, has a beautiful family, home, car, and is living the life he desired. A sermon in church one Sunday rehashed a dark secret only he, God, and his adopted brother,  Dewayne, knew. The wounds were opened all over again.

Lucky is now tormented by what happened and feels it's time for revenge. He finally shares his secret with his wife, who feels Lucky is no longer the man she married and bore his child. He was suddenly a stranger to her. They separated but remained civil towards each other.

Lucky is heart broken, but takes on a different personality, to pursue revenge for the pain and scars left on his very soul from his youth. You will  want to read this book and discuss it with your husband, lover, boy friend, significant other.

It will be a story you won't soon forget. Debut the Fall of 2009. After I finish this book, I will be writing my next book. A book of short erotic stories.

Then I will write and release in 2010 the sequel of, "What's Past Is Not Forgotten."

I love my blessings. I honestly believe I was born to write. I've been doing it forever....
